In Memory of Helen and Fr Jim

Remembering Helen Burton

January 29th marks the second anniversary of the death of Helen Burton. Helen was our secretary for 37 years until her retirement in 2016. She was loved by all in the school and is a huge loss both to the school community and more particularly her family. Take a minute today to think of Helen. I'm sure many will remember her fondly today.
Remembering Father Jim

Father Jim Tormey was born on 13th July 1933 and was ordained to the priesthood on 8th June 1958. His first Parish was in Baldoyle, then in 1965 he was appointed to Raheny and a few months later in 1965 to Dunlavin for four years.

Fr. Jim was serving in Cabinteely parish when he took the appointment with the Columban Fathers. On four occasions Fr. Jim served in Chile and Peru giving a total of 20 years. Returning each time he served in the parishes of Dundrum, Narraghmore, Kilquade and finally here in Ballybrack since 2003. He died March 7th 2013.

Fr. Jim, our Priest died this year.  He is very badly missed in our school.  Fr. Jim was a very nice and generous man.  He went over to South America every year to help the people over there. He made friends over there and always went back to see them.  He always helped charities.  Fr. Jim was the kind of man who didn't like flashy cars or clothes.  He always drove around in a really old car.  He loved swimming.  He would go swimming every morning in Dun Laoghaire and then cycle home.  He was a lovely man and will be sadly missed.
